Ladies of the South

Three artists who have played important roles in American Vernacular Art are Nellie Mae Rowe, Clementine Hunter and Mary T Smith.  Although we don't carry their work in our gallery, they are artists to know and study.  Each with their own unique approach to making influential American art.

3 American Masters

Dos Folkies Gallery is back at it after a great summer.  One of the hottest we've had in Washington in several years.  Long hot summer days of hiking, family, friends, boating, cooking and entertaining. Now it's pushing fall and time to get back to the business, and pleasure, of art.  Wow, and we've just added 3 new pieces to Dos Folkies Gallery from 3 of our favorite American folk artists.  Check out the photos below and check out the gallery for pricing.

Jimmy Lee Sudduth   "Standin' In The Doorway"

Annie Wellborn          "Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting"

Mose Tolliver             "Wildcat and Peko Bird"
Also added to the gallery this summer, new works from Eric Legge and Mr. John Henry Toney.
